Shoot-Out in Sosua

The last week in May started with suspected rival drug gangs fighting in the Los Charamicos areas and Montellano. The evening of Sunday 25th May culminated in at least one death and several wounded after a shootout in which over 300 bullets were fired.
Many local residents reported hearing shots fired even in the tourist sector of El Batey.
One man, 21 year old Damian Rodriguez Polanco was later found dead in the car park of the Gregorio Luperón hospital in Puerto Plata with gunshot wounds
