Criminals must surrender within 48 hours say National Police

National Police have stepped up efforts to confront the rise in drugs related crime in the Sosua area, with the General of the National Police, General Eduardo Alberto Then giving members of criminal gangs in the areas just 48 hours to surrender their arms.
He said “Those who are not delivered within this period will not breathe any more because I nor my subordinates will forgive if they do not accept this call.”
He made these statements during a meeting with officials at the Catholic Church San Antonio de Padua. Also at the meeting were Sosua Mayor Vladimir Céspedes, local Fiscal Kelvin Méndez Sánchez, Abel Suero, Radhames García, Arismendy Martínez, Reverend Jorge Bonilla, Erasmo Vásquez among others.
The increased focus on crime in Sosua has come after it becoming public knowledge that certain areas in Sosua have become ‘no-go’ areas for police, where drug trafficking is carried out freely without recourse.
