Police are investigating a robbery and a murder which took place last week at the ‘El Túnel’ gift shop on Calle Jose del Carmen Ariza in Puerto Plata.
Rafael (Chencho) Almonte was beaten and then strangled by an unknown assailant who then got away with jewelry valued at RD$180,000 according to the shop owner, Joaquín Santos.
Almonte was known to the shop owner and was used to entering the shop after hours with his own set of keys.
