Teacher murdered in Imbert
In an incident which has shocked local residents of Imbert, local teacher, Luciano Martínez Lantigua, known as ‘Victor’ was found dead on his ranch, having been beaten and shot by unknown assailants.
Police say it is likely attackers first beat him with a wooden stick before wresting his gun from him, and using it to shoot him with.
According to fellow teachers, Victor had been experiencing problems at his ranch with recent attempts of theft of his cattle He had apparently left the school where he was working at 4pm, to guard his livestock.
Victor, who served at local schools for more than 20 years and was recently acting as a coach, is survived by his two children, and his wife, fellow teacher, Leoncio Silverio.
Update
Local police arrested a man on Saturday they say has confessed to the killing. Rubén Darío Rodríguez (Fabito), also apparently says that he was with two other men, known as Atawalpa and Jhimmy at the time. Police say they actively searching for the other two men thought to be involved.
It is also now known that Victor had just days before, filed a report with the police in which he supplied details of locations where drugs were thought to be distributed..
At the request of the Attorney Deputy Prosecutor, Lic. Ramón Antonio Núñez Liriano, a judge has sentenced Rodriguez to one year’s imprisonment. |
