Police are investigating the murder of a hotel manager in Cabarete last week. 29 year-old Hrafnhildur Lilja Georgsdóttir, who was found stabbed to death in her hotel room on Monday (22 Sept).
Georgsdóttir, originally from Iceland, was working as manager at the Extreme apart-hotel in the Tropical Goleta area of Cabarete.
She suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest, shoulders and hands, and blows to various parts of her body including her head, in what police think may have been a ‘crime of passion’. The gravity of the wounds suggest an enraged attack rather than a robbery gone wrong.
Police immediately arrested three other staff from the hotel who were known companions of the victim, Fredrerick Franklin Genao, Kelvin Corniel Fermín and Paola Jiménez Rodríguez. The two men were alleged to be former boyfriends of the victim, although Genao and Fermin both denied knowing Georgsdóttir. Two other people were also detained by police.
The Fiscal, Dr. José Martínez Montán later ruled that there was no evidence linking the three to the murder.
